The NSF has funded 4 teams via the National Quantum Virtual Laboratory program, with the goal of developing a highly accessible shared research infrastructure framework that draws on the full spectrum of expertise throughout the nation to rapidly translate quantum information science & engineering (QISE) capabilities into practical advantage.

The UCSB Blumenthal group will join the neutral atom quantum computation team will be led by Professor Dirk Englund, Vladan Vuletić, Paola Cappellaro, and Adrian Menssen (MIT); in collaboration with Mikhail Lukin, Kang-Kuen Ni, Susanne Yelin, and Giulia Semeghini (Harvard); Robin Côté (UMass Boston); Jake Taylor and Michael Gullans (University of Maryland); and Jason Cong and Hanrui Wang (UCLA).

Our team's collective focus is advancing QISE by pioneering developments in neutral-atom quantum platforms, with the goal of establishing a national roadmap for next-generation neutral-atom–based quantum technologies and building a robust, inclusive U.S. research community.
